The Gallery Space
A gallery space within a school of architecture at a university provides a platform for students to showcase their work and ideas, fostering creativity and innovation. It serves as a learning environment where students can engage with diverse architectural styles, exhibitions, and industry professionals, enhancing their education and career prospects. Additionally, the gallery space promotes community engagement and collaboration, creating opportunities for networking, partnerships, and cultural exchange within the architectural field. With this thought in mind I thought that the University of Miami School of Architecture could use such a space to store past and present projects of current students, alumni and even professors to inspire its audience for generations to come and attract attention to the institution. The structure preserves the trunk and canopy of an existing Banyan tree to show symbiosis with the campus and its luscious nature. The plans and accompanying drawings for this project were designed using AutoCAD and later rendered as hand drawings or digital Photoshop perspectives. The model was built using museum board and cardboard.
